"We focus on making it a family friendly day, and it's lovely to see the generations of some families coming through the gates looking for a relaxed, easy and entertaining event to share together," she said.
Timed to catch visiting families before the end of the festive season, the 2014 Tathra Cup attracted a substantial crowd to watch the seven races that made up the betting part of the day.
For Merimbula grandmother Patti Hand though, the races came second to a day out with her granddaughter Henrietta Hand from Wagga Wagga.
"We've been having a wonderful day," Patti said.
"We do a lot of the beach and swimming type things during the holiday period when we get together, but this is something different and makes for a nice change."
Also enjoying the change of pace was the Blunt-Van Resch family swapping the freezing conditions of their homeland, England, for the sunny skies of the Sapphire Coast.
Chosen as the winner of the "Happy Family" award, parents Paul and Huma and their three boys Max, George and Tommy, were set to use the family pass they won to Magic Mountain fun park at Merimbula before heading back to London.
On the official club business front, the family race day included the investiture of hard working committee member Tom Overende as a life member, recognised for more than a decade of commitment to its work and the awarding of the 2014 Tathra Cup.
Of the latter, Canberra-based trainer Mick Miladinovic's four-year-old mare, Serb Candy, took the honours, ridden by Brodie Loy, Kembla Grange.
