Just ask Brendon Chattaway, vice-president of the NSW Barefoot Water Ski Club, based on the Georges River near Liverpool.
He said the best advice was to get the right instruction from the start.
"I didn't and was belted from one side of the Hawkesbury River to the other.
After joining the NSW club he started to do tricks by the end of his first lesson.
Barefoot water skiing is for anyone of any age, according to Mr Chattaway who said he knows of youngsters of four-and-a-half years and "oldies" aged 75 years.
These days the methods of teaching have also become easier with the help of "Boom Bars" and "Seahorses" which are affixed to the side of the boat.
