A joint initiative of Emerald Grain and Fairfax Agricultural Media's The Land, the WIAA 100 will shine the spotlight on some of the industry's most influential females and their vision for agriculture.
More than 190 nominations have already been received, showcasing some of the industry's leading players in agripolitics, agribusiness and policy development, and representing a broad cross-section of farm commodities.
Chair of the judging panel will be Nationals Senator Fiona Nash, (pictured) who is the Assistant Minister for Health and has a farming operation near Young.
"There are many unsung heroes working tirelessly in the field, in agribusiness and in rural communities, and I look forward to hearing more about their valuable work," Senator Nash said.
"Women play a vital role in agriculture, be it in the paddock or a boardroom, while often also juggling family and community commitments.
"They are leaders, farmers, business partners, environmental stewards and mothers, with a common goal to ensure a strong future for Australian agriculture.
"The WIAA 100 is the ideal opportunity to recognise these incredible women for their contribution and to inspire our young girls to follow in their footsteps."
The panel will include Emerald Grain chairman Alan Winney; national manager of the Rural Industries Research and Development Corporation Rural Women's Award Margo Andrae; Booligal farmer Sandra Ireson and general manager of Fairfax's FarmOnline network of agricultural news sites Sally White.
A panel of judges will select 100 of the nominees to make up the final list as well as five outstanding nominees in the categories of:
- Outstanding leader in agribusiness
- Outstanding young achiever
- Outstanding contribution towards policy
- Outstanding work in the community
- Outstanding leader in the field
