For the third time Terry Regan, Emu Plains, won the Leonard Teale Memorial Performance Poetry Award, a magnificent bronze statuette from The Land and $1000 from Essential Energy.
Performing Granny's New Washing Machine, written by Bruce Simpson, he brought to life the dangers faced by Granny when feeding wet clothes through the automatic ringer.
Second was Ken Potter, Wollongong, and third and audience choice winner was Ken Tough, Wagstaffe, on the Central Coast.
Highly commended in the performance poetry were Tom Hamilton, Richmond; Jenny Markwell, Wangi Wangi; Catherine Stewart, Lismore, and commended were Douglas Worsley, Sydney; Ron Stevens, Dubbo; John Davis, Camden, and Beverley Jackson, Glenwood, Queensland.
Henry Lawson statuettes and $500 cash from The Land went to Roger Vickery, Harbord, who won the open short story competition, and Tom McIlveen, Port Macquarie, who won the open written poetry competition
James Yeo, Richmond Hill via Lismore, was second and highly commended in the short story competition, while third was Garry Hurle, Calulu, Victoria.
Highly commended was Jim Brigginshaw, Alstonville, with Carmel Lillis, Yarraville, and Mary Evans, Bridgetown, Western Australi,a both commended.
Emerging short story winner was Joanna Nell, Clareville, while highly commended was Ross Stephenson, Molong, and commended Irene Timpone, Aroona; Lesley Van Biljon, Ballina, and Mary-Anne Feghali, Mt Druitt.
Emerging written poetry award was won by Caroline Tuohey, Darlington Point.
Second in the adult written poetry was a former winner Ron Stevens, Dubbo, and third Valerie Read, Bicton, WA; highly commended were Tom McIlveen, Port Macquarie; Terry Piggott, Canning Vale, and Yvonne Harper (twice), Coopers Shoot, Vic.
The secondary student Years 7 to 10 was won by Brittany Doolan, Coonabarabran High School; second, Harrison Lee, Hurlstone Agricultural High School, and third, Emma Tudgey, Coonabarabran High School.
The encouragement award went to Gina Elton, Coonabarabran High School, and most successful school was Coonabarabran High.
Highly commended were Visnja Viahovic, Hurlstone; Olivia Colantonia, Coonabarabran, and Ally Augerinos, Methodist Ladies College, Vic.
Commended were Katie Young and Alison Green, Coonabarabran, and Archita Jaismha, Hurlstone.
The primary school student competition was won by Stephanie Gordon and second Annika Ramasamy of Methodist Ladies College, Vic, and third Ebony Roach, Hargraves Public School.
Highly commended were Brendon Terbizan and Siobhan Bastow, Hargraves, and Jesse-Lee King and Bianca Anderson, Ilford Public School.
Commended were Lisa Newland, Methodist Ladies College; Claire Chadwick, Gina McDonald, Lucy Waddell, Ilford Public School; Carmen Oxenford and Rachel Lee, Citipointe Christian College, Brisbane, and Siobhan Bastow, Hargraves Public School.
An encouragement award from Hunter Bush Poets went to Isabella Oxenford, Citipointe Christian College.
The school prize went to Methodist Ladies College, Vic, while the local school award was won by Hargraves Public School.
