THE weather gods may have smiled on some graingrowing regions, but one patch of the State's North West's the only place left behind the eight ball.
Good rain last week in Western Australia and western Victoria patched in the few areas that had not yet received opening rains.
It means the nation has had one of its most even and earliest breaks for more than 20 years.
Nicholas Brooks, of Australian Crop Forecasters, said while the results of his company's grower survey were a little while away, anecdotally there would be a good plant across the country.
"Wheat prices are higher relative to canola than last year, but there is an early break which is better agronomically for canola."
In NSW, John Eastburn, GrainGrowers chairman said his local area at Baradine needed some more rain, but said the State's Far North West cropping belt, near Walgett, was in particular need of some rain.
"They've just managed to miss out on the rain whatever direction it has come in from."
However, he said further south, farmers in the Central West were enjoying an ideal break.
"There is a lot of crop up and things are looking really good."
