Much of the Gunnedah district is still in drought so there was very little buyer competition from the local area for the 1400 steers and heifers offered.
The National Livestock Reporting Service said much of the competition on the buyer's rail came from Blayney, Walgett, Moree, Cumnock, Tamworth, Nyngan, Narrabri and the Hunter Valley.
Light weaner steers weighing less than 200 kilograms sold from $140 to $345 a head.
The top pen in this weight range were C2 black baldy steers that in cents a kilogram sold for 182c/kg.
For steers weighing 200kg to 280kg the market ranged from $255 to $472.40.
The heavier steers (from 280kg to 330kg) were in demand from lot feeder orders and sold from $255.90 to $542.90.
The top pen in this weight range were C2 Herefords.
Only one pen of weaners tipped the scales are more than 330kg and they were C2 Euro-crosses that sold for $586.50 or 170c/kg.
Weaner heifers weighing less than 200kg sold from $115 to $267.20 while those from 200kg to $280kg sold from $165.40 to $389.60.
Just one pen of weaner heifers weighed more than 280kg and they sold for $423 or 150c/kg.
