A REGISTERED nurse, a medical student and a secondary school teacher will represent Zone 7 at the State final of the 2014 The Land Sydney Royal Showgirl competition at Sydney Royal in April.
The Zone 7 was hosted by Griffith Show Society, and 22 girls competed for three prized finalist spots from across the region which encompasses the Agricultural Societies Council of NSW's (ASC) Groups 8 and 9.
The evening function was held at the Yoogali Club in Griffith and attracted 300 guests.
Wagga Showgirl Carly Acheson, 24, studied paramedics at university, a Certificate III in Business plus a Certificate IV in Real Estate before returning to Charles Sturt University's Wagga Campus to complete a Bachelor of Nursing.
Carly is also involved in volunteer work at Wagga Wagga Base Hospital and hopes to work with the Royal Flying Doctor Service in the future, as well as gain her pilot's licence.
She also would like to have the opportunity to participate in some volunteer work in Africa.
Junee Showgirl Jasmine Corbett, 20, is studying for a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery at the University of NSW.
Jasmine is passionate about all things rural and is keen to return to rural areas to practice as a GP, general surgery plus obstetrics, which she believes is lacking today.
Griffith Showgirl Emily Chilvers, 24, is a secondary school teacher specialising in food technology hospitality at Wade High School, Griffith.
Emily attended the University of Canberra for a Bachelor of Secondary Education, plus three years of cross-institutional education at Canberra Institute of Technology to gain chef and hospitality credentials.
She is heavily involved within the local community through her local church and local fundraising events; her aim is to have a greater community involvement and awareness of human nutrition.
The final was judged by ASC president Tim O'Brien; 2003 The Land Sydney Showgirl finalist Karen Roberts, and The Land's display advertising manager Roland Cowley.
