Last week, the McIntyres had 45 millimetres of rain, the biggest fall they’d had since harvest when they received 175mm.
Until then, Mr McIntyre said rain had been quite untimely and they were only receiving falls of 10mm to 15mm.
The follow-up rain has encouraged good feed to come through for their Merino sheep and their cropping soil profiles are filling.
Mr McIntyre said the coming winter cropping season was looking quite promising, especially if the wetter weather continued through to spring.
The McIntyres grow a mix of wheat, barley, chickpeas and lupins during winter and Mr McIntyre said it was looking like they’d be able to plant their full 2000 hectares of cropping country. They expect to start spraying and cultivating weeds soon, given the germination after recent rain.
