In a first at the distinguished event, a supreme Whiteface bull was judged the overall winner from the grand champion Hereford and grand champ Poll breeds.
Sired by Warringa Google G23, the 918 kilogram bull was first awarded the junior champion Hereford before grand champ Hereford and eventually supreme.
He had an eye muscle area (EMA) of 126 square centimetres, rib fat of 11 millimetres and a scrotal circumference of 40cm.
Glendan Park principal Alvio Trovatello said the 14-month-old sire was one of the first drop of bulls at the stud by Warringa Google G23 (H). He is by one of the stud's elite donor cows, Glendan Ark Lass G013 (AI) (H).
“He’s balanced with good structure,” Mr Trovatello said.
“He’s smooth, but still with plenty of capacity and depth of body and had plenty of sire appeal.”
The following day Knockout set the large selling arena crowd alight and became the third highest price overall when when he was knocked down to Anthony Baillieau, Yarram Park Herefords, Willaura, Vic and Graham Newham, Cara Park Herefords, Delungra for $52,000.
Mr Newham said Knockout was a beautifully balanced, athletic young bull with a wonderful outlook.
“He has tremendous length, sufficient carcase and is out of some very proven and efficient bloodlines,” Mr Newham said.
“He took our eye as soon as he came into the ring, even before he had a ribbon placed on him.”
Knockout was judged supreme over the grand champion Poll Hereford bull Kaludah Archie K221 (AI) (P), exhibited by Pam Shelley, Kaludah Herefords, Cooma.
Judge Peter Collins, Merridale Angus, Tennyson, Vic, said he put the horned bull ahead of the Poll bull because it was a little bit sharper and a little bit deeper than the grand champion Poll Hereford.
Reserve junior champ was awarded to S and K Lewington, Uranquinty with Kymarney Domino K010
The senior champion Hereford bull was another Glendan Park exhibit, a 1062kg Glendan Park Kinetic K004 (AI) (ET) (H), which was also sired by Warringa Google G23 (H).
The reserve senior champion bull, RH Classic (H), a Charnock Jackal son ,exhibited by Burrawang Herefords, Forbes was sold for $41,000 to Ian and Anne Galloway, Galloway Cattle Company, Roma, QLD.
The Galloway’s invested in four bulls to average $19,625.
