The Angus breed judging will be held on Sunday, April 9, from 9am.
This year, prize money offered to high scoring Angus steers in the Royal Agricultural Society Hoof and Hook show has been increased to reward Angus steers scoring more than 85 points in the carcase section.
Entries for beef cattle and steer competitions close on February 8. Record nominations have been received for the Norman Lethbridge award supporting students wishing to pursue a career in agriculture.
Booroomooka Angus stud, owned and operated by the Munro family at Bingara, sponsors the competition, which is organised by the NSW State Angus Committee.
The winners will be announced at the Sydney Royal Show Angus judging.
Planning for the 2019 Angus Centenary Feature Show has begun with the establishment of a subcommittee chaired by Tim Lord from K.O. Angus, Kangaloon.
The committee expects it will be a major event on the 2019 Angus breed calendar.
Meanwhile, results of the NSW members’ survey were analysed and will provide a starting point in an Angus Australia review of state-based activities to be carried out in 2017.
The survey respondents demonstrated support for state-based activities, but also identified a need for increased communications between the state committee and the general membership.
