The fire danger continues across the state today, with total fire bans in place in Greater Sydney and the Hunter region.

According to the NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS), there are 37 fires burning across the state, with eight yet to be contained.
Greg Allan, from the RFS said, there is also concern that more fires may have started overnight.
“There was dry lightning in the Blue Mountains, the Hunter and Sydney’s West overnight,” he said.
“Reconnaissance flights are happening this morning to see if any new fires have started.”
Mr Allan said fire crews have already been called out to one grass fire burning near Blacktown this morning, but the fire is small and isn’t considered a big threat at this time.
Meanwhile, up north near Grafton in the Clarence Valley, two state forest fires are yet to be contained and are creating a lot of smoke in the surrounding area, with some of the smoke visible as far as Coffs Harbour and Port Macquarie. Mr Allan said that while the haze is visible from a great distance, no properties are currently under threat.
With the weather set to reach the high thirties again, Mr Allan said everyone in danger areas should be on high alert.
“People need to be vigilant in these hot, dry and windy conditions,” he said.
However Mr Allan said a southerly change should be coming through Sydney and the Hunter region this afternoon, bringing some relief to firefighters battling blazes in the area.
The Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) have predicted a southerly change in the far west of the state, which should see the mercury drop from the mid 40’s to the mid 30’s by this afternoon.
Right now in Broken Hill it’s 34 degrees, 30 in Midura and 38 in Ivanhoe.
The northwest corner of the state is still battling temperatures in the 40’s though, with highs of 44 in Bourke, 43 degrees in White Cliffs and 41 in Cobar.
There’s no relief in sight for these northern towns, with BoM predicting it will be even hotter in this part of the state tomorrow.
Temperatures on the east coast, around Newcastle and Sydney are still in the high thirties, but they should drop 10 degrees to the mid 20’s in the early afternoon, as a southerly brings a cool change.
