After months of preparation he’s launched ‘Channel 40’ – an online service which helps truckies find loads, especially back loads.
In January, its first month of operation, the start-up connected drivers to more than $100,000 in freight in January.
“You could say Channel 40 is a cross between Uber and Facebook for Truckies”, said Mr Cavanagh, who owns Dubbo’s mining and agricultural machinery rental business EMS Group.
“Freight owners can see exactly where their load is at any given time. Drivers can see what loads are available anywhere in Australia. And it’s fully transparent so drivers get immediate payment on delivery and freight owners get certainty about pick-up and delivery times.”
To use the service freight owners take a photo of what they want shipped, enter dimensions and weight, pickup and delivery address.
The shipper can opt for a fixed price, or the price can be negotiated.
