This event will feature 50 Red Angus and 33 Simmental bulls and females which will parade before Brett Nobbs, Nobbs Cattle Company, Duaringa, Queensland, and associate judge Isobel Robertson, the 2016 Red Angus junior ambassador.
Thirty-three Red Angus bulls and 17 females, and 19 Simmental bulls with 14 females parade in the judging ring from 8am on Wednesday morning, then be offered for sale from 1pm that afternoon.
Red Angus Society of Australia president and show and sale committee chairman, Graham Jordan, Goonoo stud, Tamworth, said combining both breeds would have a positive affect on the fixture.
“I have no doubt this combined event will work very well for vendors and beef breeder purchasers alike,” he said.
“We have already gained an lot of inquiry and feedback and expect the fixture will grow even bigger next year.”
Mr Jordan said his society had been looking for a partner to join in a national show and sale fixture.
“We decided to invite the Simmental breed because in North America both breeds work very well together,” he said.
Simmental Australia president, and show and sale committee member, Tom Baker, Woonallee stud, Furner, South Australia, said both breeds were “like-minded” and had similar focuses and goals.
“What makes this combined event so unique is that both breed societies have set this sale up with commercial breeders in mind,” he said.
“Commercial breeders can come along and buy cattle from either breed and gain an animal which will be worthwhile to them.
“I think that’s important.”
Mr Baker said he thought the downfall of a lot of similar events was due to them not being commercially minded.
“Both breed societies and members have goals set on benefiting the commercial cattle breeder, who I believe, want to come and see, and invest.
“I believe this show and sale formula will work in favour of our breeds and in favour of commercial beef breeders.”
Genetic lots will be offered for sale during the dinner at Dubbo RSL on Tuesday evening, June 20.
Both live and genetic lots will be livestreamed on AuctionsPlus. Major sponsor, Ausmectin (International Animal Health) is supported by Fairfax Media, Landmark, Elders, Aussie Rural, Atlas Motel, Fountain View Motel and a number of studs from both breeds.
