The Temana stud of Terry and Maylene Griffin, Baradine, conducted their annual sale jointly with Futurity and cleared all 33 bulls offered for an average of $7106.
Stanbroke’s “Fort Constantine”, Cloncurry, was the destination of the four with the sale topper, Temana M5E (P), by Kenmere Grand Master, weighing 732 kilograms at 15 months with an eye muscle area (EMA) of 118 square centimetres and equal second top at $13,000, Kyana KLG MO22E, by the same sire, weighing 700kg at 15 months.
Jackie Barker and Liz Hawkins, “Napperby”, Mullaley, Temana bull buyers for 12 years, also paid $13,000 for Temana L88E by Yaccamoo Cowboy (P), weighing 910kg at 23 months with an EMA of 132sqcm.
“We like these bloodlines and already have a Cowboy son,” Ms Hawkins said.
“His progeny are very good and we are so happy with them we decided to invest in another son.”
A herd of 120 Angus and black baldy breeders run on Napperby produce vealers which are marketed at 320 to 330kg weights at seven to eight months of age, depending on seasons.
Four bulls sold to South Australian breeding enterprises with Yaccamoo Charolais stud, Murdulla, paying $12,000 for a son of Yaccamoo Cowboy weighing 880kg at 22 months with an EMA of 129sqcm.
