CUT-OFF dates for local wheat crop judging are getting closer for the regional finals of the 2017 Suncorp Bank-Agricultural Societies Council (ASC) State Dryland Field Wheat competition.
ASC co-ordinator, David Herbert, said there were some good crops about and growers needed encouragement to enter these.
“Prizes totalling in excess of $10,000 are in the offing for local and regional placegetters,” he said. “But importantly local competitions encourage networking and some educational benefits.”
Results of local show judging need to be with the ASC by October 18 for the Northern region; November 1 for Western region; November 8 for Central and November 15 for the Southern region.
Local winners gain a Lowes Petroleum $50 gift voucher, regional placegetters share in $1000 prizemoney and extra awards while the state champion also gains $900 prizemoney and $200 Lowes Petroleum voucher.
Sponsors include Suncorp Bank, Lowes Petroleum, The Land Newspaper, Stoller Australia and ASC of NSW.
