Come by Chance Picnic Races

Hot winds blew across 'Gleneda' on Saturday for the annual picnic races


The Pilliga came alive for the annual Come by Chance picnic races.


With the temperature reaching 39.2 degrees Celsius and wind gusts of 59 kilometres an hour a larger than expected number of racegoers turned out for 70th anniversary of the annual Come By Chance Picnics.

Located in the Pilliga district of northern New South Wales, about 100 kilometres north of Coonabarabran the annual race meet is held on the property of Gleneda. The feature race was the PJ O’Brien Memorial Come By Chance Cup and was won by Rusty Motorbike trained at Nyngan by Rodney Robb and was ridden by stable jockey Maddison Wright.
