Designed to withstand tough conditions on any commercial farm, the Twinstar G3 rakes two windrows together and also helps to speed up drying time by turning hay before baling.
Forbes Machinery Centre’s Peter Nixon said they had lots of enquiries about the Twinstar G3 at the field days.
“There was some very good interest in the Twinstar G3 at Orange,” Mr Nixon said.
“A number of features on the machine drove that interest, but I think the main feature was the seven bars on the G3 compared to the five bars on typical hay rakes.
“Having the seven bars over the conventional five bars on other machines allows for a slower basket speed.
“This is a very important feature for those growers who are producing lucerne or clover hay.
“It produces cleaner hay which brings higher returns and ensures animals receive proper nutrients.
“Basket raked hay is believed to be significantly cleaner with less contaminants like rocks, dirt and debris, and has less leaf loss compared to traditional finger wheel and rotary rakes.
“The slower baskets of the Twinstar G3 do not knock the leaf around which produces a better quality hay,” he said.
The Twinstar Generation 3 is controlled from the cabin, a feature Mr Nixon believes is an important one.
“Having all the controls in the cabin allows the operator to make adjustments on the go which saves time and effort,” he said.
“No longer do they have to get up and down out of the cab to make adjustments.
“The Twinstar G3 controls allow for width adjustments, basket speed adjustments, as well as angle and swath adjustments – all from the cabin.
“It really saves time, but also it makes it easier on the operator as well.”
Mr Nixon believes that servicing the G3 has been made very simple as well.
“The Twinstar Generation 3 has low service points, making it easier to manage,” Mr Nixon said.
“It has a very solid design and features sealed bearings.
“The G3 only requires a low hydraulic flow as well.
“On top of all that, the G3 folds up to have a very narrow transport width, making it easier to move around.”
Twinstar Generation 3 hay rakes are available in 8.2 metre and 9.1 metre approximate raking widths for windrowers equipped with 3.6 metre to 5.5 metre headers.
“The G3 is the rake for someone who wants to produce top quality lucerne hay,” Mr Nixon said.
“Both our Forbes and Cowra locations have the G3 in stock now.
“I suggest getting in before the upcoming price rise takes effect,” he said.
