Solid gains in the superfine end of the wool market underpinned demand for quality Merino rams during the annual sale account the Lette family, Conrayn Merinos, Berridale.

Continuing to have confidence in their preferred wool type, superfine specialists purchased 27 rams of the 53 rams offered to $2000 for a sale average $1,111.
The top priced ram was bought by repeat buyers, David and Jenny Bingley, Weerona Apiaries, Sutton.
The couple also bought a second ram for $1500.
Among volume buyers, J. A. and P. Pilcher, buying through WISS, Melbourne secured five rams to $1300 and average $1120, Phil Webb, Braidwood bought three rams to top of $1500 and average $1334 and Len Cooney, Goolma, who returned to take home two rams at $1800 and $1600 respectively.
Other good sales recorded included two to $1700 by R. R. and J. L. Sands, “Island Lake”, Cooma, and one each to C. J. and R. F. McCarthy, Nimmitabel ($1300), T. C and J. M Bruce, Bombala ($1500) and Duncan McPaul, Bemboka ($1000).
Co-studmaster, Pete Lette, thought his annual sale “went well”.
“I couldn’t be happier, we had 17 registered bidders which is the highest in the last few years,” he said.
“We had a lot of repeat buyers and wool growers are looking for quality superfine rams with heavy fleeces.”
The sale was settled by Landmark, Cooma, with Landmark stud stock specialist, Rick Power, handling the gavel.
