Following the abandonment of the Adaminaby Cup Race Day a few weeks ago, High Country race goers were keen to enjoy a full card of events at the Cooma Racing Club’s Sundowner Cup Race Day.
Clear skies, a gentle breeze and a near perfect track resulted in a great days racing and socialising.
The big attraction as always was the Fashions on the Field, sponsored by local fashion house Birds’ Nest and judged by fashion doyenne and international model Annaliese Seubert.
Along with her brother Phillip, Annaliese was raised in Cooma and from the 1990s rose through the ranks to become the face of Redken international hair products and a much sought after catwalk model.
Living now in Canberra, she regularly returns to town to visit her parents Gretta and Dieter and touch base with local fashion house Birds’ Nest for whom she does occasional photo shoot.
Aside from the fashions, interest in the six race program was strong with popular local horse Orsippus, trained by Kevin Byrne taking out the hotly contested Sundowners’ Cup.
Cooma Racing Club officials were pleased with the day and the behaviour of the crowd
