Ten lambs and two hoggets donated by five breeders for the annual fundraiser prior to today’s prime sheep and lamb sale topped at $500 and grossed $5720 for the regional community Breast Care Nurses program.
The sale gross added to previous Dubbo sales since 2011 now grosses well over $60,000 and further Trangie fundraising including the pink pigeon race together with golf and bowls tournaments to top up the tally to the $150,000 mark – all from the Trangie district.
Lambs were bought and redonated to the cause when sold in pairs.
Auctioneer, Trangie’s Peter Cruickshank, sold three pairs three times helping pump up the tally.
Top money paid, $500, was the work of Gilgandra district local Grace Alchin for two lambs.
Donors included the Ferguson, Ferrari, Pursehouse and Wade families who have been regular donors since the inception of the auction.
Organiser, Shane Dolton of the Trangie Hotel, said other fundraisers in January will include the annual Pink Pigeon air race held just prior to the annual Pink Cricket Test match in Sydney starting on January 4.
