The Herd of Hope is halfway to Bondi – but now they need your help to complete the trip.
The 40 heifers bound to hit Bondi Beach on March 17 arrived in the Barossa at the end of last year.
They have transport arranged from Narrandera, NSW, but need to hitch a ride to make that connection late next week.
So the muster’s head stockwoman Megan McLoughlin has put the call out for any trucks heading east from SA.
“They need to be in Narrandera by Friday, March 9, so we’re looking at having them leave the day before,” she said.
“We’re halfway there but just need a little more help!”
The Herd of Hope is a volunteer-driven organisation which aims to raise awareness of organ and tissue donation.
Mrs McLoughlin – who was left legally blind after a routine operation in 2008 – was the recipient of a double transplant (kidney and pancreas) in December 2010.
Her “second chance” – received 20 days after being given the news she had a month to live – has spurred her on to raise awareness and support for not only organ recipients, but also donors and their families.
“Please, if you have any empty loads heading back to NSW or could do the trip, we would love to hear from you!” she said.
