The Australian Rail Track Corporation values the strong advocacy of NSW Farmers on Inland Rail and appreciates their focus is on delivering the best project, an ARTC spokesperson said yesterday.

“ARTC has made publicly available a number of detailed reports which outline the significant data and analysis that fed into the government’s confirmation of the final study area for Narromine to Narrabri.”

In November 2017, ARTC published the 47-page Narromine to Narrabri Options Report and 77-page Narromine to Narrabri Options Report. “These reports confirm that the study area provides the best balance between economic, community and environmental considerations, as well as best meeting the requirements of the Inland Rail service offering, which is to provide a road competitive freight transport link between Melbourne and Brisbane under 24 hours,” the spokesman said.

“There is a lot of hard work happening in the Central West and North West NSW and 700 people attended our information meetings in December.

“We met 450 landowners in one-on-one meeting before launching the next phase of our consultation in February, where we are meeting with landholders one-on-one again.”

The spokesman said the ARTC had full liability for any of its subcontractors or workers on properties.

“Landowners have no obligation to sign ARTC’s agreements and they can terminate or renegotiate at any time it they change their mind for any reason,” he said.

“As for stock, farmers will still be able to move stock and equipment.

“ARTC works directly with individual farmers or businesses to understand how they work their property and look at different solutions.”
