The March weaner sale for CL Squires, Inverell, attracted strong Queensland interest with steers to $1061.

Of the 1600 head on offer weaner steers averaged 332 to 361 cents a kilogram at 231kg to 310kg. Yearling steers made 320c/kg to 337c/kg at 271kg to 326kg.

Weaner heifers sold for 284c/kg to 312c/kg at 212kg to 292kg and yearling heifers from 285c/kg to 303c/kg at 269kg to 328kg.

Topping the sale were Neville and Gail McIntyre, Pinkett via Glen Innes, with Black Limousin/Angus steers, 310kg at 342c/kg, making $1061.

Inverell, like many places, benefitted from a good spring before high summer turned very dry and the country has only just come good.

Parts of Queensland, benefiting from an autumn break, were in the market and certainly propped up the sale with many going through Grant Daniel Long Meandarra and more than a few through Ray White, Roma.

Tony and Ruth Stace, Wandsworth via Guyra, sold Angus steers, 293kg for 345c/kg or $1012.

Kranga Cattle Company, Armidale sold a pen of Angus, 340c/kg at 301kg to bring $1024.

Joe Hamilton, Morven Pastoral Bellatta, delivered good, quiet, Santa-Gertrudis/Hereford, 245kg, bringing 354c/kg or $870. Clerkeness Pastoral, Bundarra, sold Angus steers to Bindaree Beef for 360c/kg at 271kg or $975. The Frazier family, Swanvale, sold Angus steers 256kg at 354c/kg to make $942.
