A total of 60 studs have, or will open their gates during this year’s Ausmectin Northern Beef Week, which started today and continues through to Sunday, July 1.
The event has kicked off in the New England, with studs from Tenterfield to Guyra, including Inglebrae Farms Angus, Sara Park Angus, Dance Angus, Benoak Devons, Mundoo Angus, Arjaym Hereford, Seaforth Angus, Scarbah Angus, Glenmorgan Angus, Glenavon Angus, Froghollow Limousin and Bridgewater Angus.
Tuesday’s open days will be in the areas around Bundarra and across to Walcha. Those keen to visit any of the open days can get directions and information about which studs are open by clicking here.
The 60 studs represent 17 beef breeds in the New England, North West, Upper Hunter, and North Coast will open their farm gates to visitors as part of the seven-day event, organised and hosted by The Land.
Each stud opens for one day during the week, with their gates open from 9am to 4pm, and with only two days down, there is still plenty to see.
Event organiser Kirra Kelly, national livestock representative for The Land based at Tamworth, said it was welcoming to see an influx of new studs participating in an event that aims to connect buyers and sellers, despite widespread drought conditions.
“The essence of Northern Beef Week is to give consumers, breeders, producers, processors and all other beef industry delegates the opportunity to see, smell and touch the product of northern NSW beef producers’ operations,” Mrs Kelly said.
The event is sponsored by Ausmectin.
