Maurice and Jutta Irvine, Tullymore Clydesdales and Shire horse stud, Merriwa will have three Shire horses on display, including their impressive imported stallion Rosemoore Archie, who recently featured in Merriwa's Festival of the Fleeces parade.
Archie, one of two imported Shire stallions owned by the Irvines, will be on show with two of his offspring, a four-year-old gelding, and a foal.
“We'll have riding demonstrations and if there's room available, a bit of dressage, as well as discussions about the breeding, and preparation for shows,” Mr Irvine said.
Mr Irvine, who was a member of the first Mudgee Field Days committee, has been breeding heavy horses for decades, and stud now includes 14 broodmares.
“We haven't shown for a few years now, but horses that I've bred are still on the show circuit,” he said.
“At this year's Sydney Royal Easter Show Tullymore horses won the three champions.
We had the champion Shire gelding with Tullymore Sir William, champion stallion with Tullymore Sir Joseph Banks and champion Shire mare and supreme exhibit with Tullymore Eugenia.
“I believe that's the first time that has ever happened, having three horses from the same breeder winning all three events.”
