The University of New England (UNE) builds on a rich agricultural history to educate and empower our students, learning from educators working in cutting edge research across agriculture, agribusiness, agtech and precision agriculture sectors.
From within the Faculty of Science, Agriculture, Business and Law, the university is pleased to share news of the new Technology and Data Analytics Major in the Bachelor of Agribusiness and Bachelor of Agriculture.
Working with experts across the faculty, students enrolling in these degrees will open up a world of opportunity for their careers – a knowledge of agriculture and agribusiness applied through a strong grasp of the trans-formative power of technology.
Students will select from a range of units to build their major including Remote Sensing and Surveying, Statistical Modelling and Experimental Design, and Efficiency and Productivity Analysis.
Students can focus on their passion and equip themselves for a career on the land, in agriculture and agribusiness or even to take things global.
“The flexibility of our degrees also means students in countless other courses can embrace units from this new and exciting major to complement their study as electives,” A UNE spokesman said.
“This makes UNE the perfect option to build an experience and qualification that will be uniquely theirs.
“Our teaching doesn’t just happen in the classroom and online.
“UNE students have unprecedented access to an enviable collection of resources that include the UNE Smart Farm, home of world-class precision agriculture; the UNE Smart Region Incubator, an agtech and agribusiness startup incubator; and newly-established Nucleate, a space specifically built for entrepreneurial students to work on their own ideas and startups.
“We give our students a taste of the global landscape, with industry-focused study tours taking us everywhere from the wet markets of Jakarta, to the finance centre of Shanghai, to the largest Angus stud in Argentina.
“We continue to proudly defend our consecutive victories at the International Food and Agribusiness Management Association (IFAMA) Case Study Competition with a group of hand-picked student teams each year.
“Our students excel at delivering sophisticated advice that will work in the real life scenarios built to test students from around the world.
“All this to deliver a well-rounded degree, inviting our students to consider the changing global landscape of work and careers, equipped with an understanding of technology and data analytics, and the drive to deliver new solutions to real world problems.”
