AgQuip was the launching pad for a new brand – the Retracta R3 by Macnaught.
The new model hose reel – the R3 – now sits alongside Macnaught and Lubemate in the company’s stable.
The industrial hose reels are made for air, water, oil, grease or oxy acetylene. They are assembled at the Sydney plant using almost 100 per cent Australian-made components except for German-made springs.
The product has been around since 1986, the same year technical manager Graham Letters joined the company.
The R3 third generation hose reel is slightly narrower than earlier models but has a bigger diameter, giving it more hose capacity.
The first public viewing of the new product was at AgQuip, across three sites. It is available in six colours with air reels in a premium range of blue, red and dark grey. They can fit various hose lengths and sizes.
The Premium+ range is fitted with a patent-pending RACR (Retracta Adjustable Control Return), which is a “world-first adjustable controlled rewind system”, according to Mr Letters.
“It is a safer product to use in a workshop application,” he said. “The further you pull a hose out, the more energy it has in the spring and the faster it retracts. This is a very simple hydraulic system that slows it down.”
The Retracta R3 has a 10-year warranty and the hose has a 12-month warranty. It is available from local Macnaught stockists.
