PROSPECTIVE buyers from more than four states flocked to the 30th annual Millah Murrah Angus stud bull sale held at the Goonamurrah, Bathurst property of the Thompson family.
The popularity of the genetics that have been fine tuned over 50 years were a sure formula to get the maximum from this sale.
Offering a selection of two year old, 18-month-old and yearling bulls, a 100 per cent clearance of 102 bulls was achieved.
Two year old bulls topped at $46,000 averaged at $16,937, the 18-month-old draft topped at $50,000 and averaged at $14,901 and the yearlings topped at $54,000 and averaged at $16,400. A second stud high overall sale average of $15850 was achieved.
Yet another Angus record, this time for a yearling bull, was believed to be tumbled when Millah Murrah Hallmark N266 left the ring at the fall of the hammer for $54,000.
Robert Gill, Alexander Downs, Merriwa was the purchaser.
Second top priced bull was 18-month-old Millah Murrah Kruse Time N64 at $50,000, Darren and Kelly Battistuzzi, managers of Ingelbrae Farms Angus, Tenterfield, purchased him on behalf of Joe and Pat Richardson.
Top priced two year old, Millah Murrah Klooney M176 sold for $46,000 to Jim and Jackie Wedge from Ascot Angus, Warwick, Queensland.
The sale was conducted by Elders Bathurst with Paul Dooley controlling the bids.
