The offering of 72 Kingsvale Supreme rams on account of Tony and John Manchester for their 22nd on-property auction saw a top price of $1900 paid by a longterm client and a sale average of $1058.

With their focus on structure, fertility and constitution, the Manchester’s presented a quality line of rams
But more importantly, they have been concentrating on genetic traits to lift the eating quality.
Top price at $1900 was paid by Kevin and Hugh Duffey, Hillside, Crowther, who have been selecting from the top end of the Kingsvale Supreme offering for four years.
“We are very happy with the way they perform for us,” Kevin Duffey said.
The Kingsvale Supremes are used as terminal sires over first cross ewes by the Duffey family, who aim at selling prime lambs as suckers through their preferred saleyards.
They were attracted to the top priced ram for his figures, including birthweight along with a correct structure.
“I don’t like them too lean,” Kevin Duffey said.
“We are aiming at producing lambs with great eating quality to meet the local market.”
The Duffey partnership purchased three rams for an average price of $1400.
Volume buyers included Summerhill Pastoral, Young, who returned to buy four rams to top of $1700 and average $1100, Ylad and Co, Young, bought four rams to top at $1400 and average $1000 and D.N and C.M McFadyen, Lochbuie, Harden who also purchased five rams for an average of $1140.
Excellent prices included $1600 paid twice by Main Range Pastoral Co, Young, Eubindal Agriculture Pty Ltd, Binalong who paid $1300 and $1200 in their draft of four and John Flannery and Son, Boorowa Flats, Galong, who paid $1200 twice for their choice of the offering. Currawong Livestock Trading, Harden chimed in with the purchase of two rams at $1300 and $1100 in their draft of three.
“We are encouraged by the continued support of many loyal clients,” Tony Manchester said. “Our overall average price was up, but the numbers sold were down … it was a tough sale.” The auction was settled through Delta Livestock and Property, Young, with Cameron Rosser taking the bids.
