I recently gave a speech on drought to a Sydney suburban group. I was asked if I believed in climate change. I said that the earth’s climate had been changing since its beginning and would change to its ending. I added that I didn’t believe that the human race was capable of altering the changes.

The world “leader” bodies UN, G7, G20, G Wiz etcetera currently seem to see themselves as controllers of the world’s thermostat dial, but apparently have no idea on how it works.
Three years ago, I wrote in this column of my letter from ET (Extra Terrestrial) seeking advice on how we could control planet Earth’s average temperature to less than 2 degrees Celsius increases.
The scientists on his planet were astounded at our skills as their planet’s temperatures were controlled by a huge sun, around which they revolved.
I had to reply that our scientists huddle in a group for job security and remain anonymous in unanimous opinion.
We saw it all in 2000 with the certainty of the Y2K bug on computers. It didn’t eventuate. Fortunes were made from computer repair and replacement.
This time we have children striking from school with the encouragement of their teachers. Instead of learning from courses in archaeology, astronomy or history they, like many politicians and media, are trumpeting the marketing propaganda of multinational renewable energy device manufacturers – people who are in it for the money.
We hear that renewables give cheaper energy, but not about Denmark with the highest percentage of renewables and the highest electricity prices.
We hear little about the huge subsidies paid by Australian Government to multinational renewable manufacturers.
We hear of current drought, heat and bushfires being caused by global warming but nothing of the January 1905 bushfires and Wilcannia’s 51 degree C recording.
We have calls for Australia to abandon coal for our electricity generation, but no one talks of banning export to countries, on the same planet, that use it for generation.
Coal is our biggest export earner. Money overrides all. Electricity generation is said to account for only one third of “warming” or alteration in climate.
Daily, there are more flights and shipping movements, but no-one is calling for their curtailment as globalisation, tourism and on-line shopping accelerate.
Cities expand at speed and cement covers their pavements with consequent heat extremes, but no one at the UN is calling for human population control. There is no money in that.
The most recent meeting of such giants was beside a Polish coalmine and voiced concern that the intended 2020 ratification of the Paris Agreement was not meeting targets.
David Attenborough was trotted out to voice “the end of human life on earth”. They then boarded their jets and polluted their way back to their homelands.
Ignorance is one thing, but hypocrisy is another.
