A large group of locals and visitors were on hand to see $1million donated by brewer Lion Beer for drought relief at the Armatree Hotel.
On the back of sales of Iron Jack beer, Lion handed over the cheque to Rural Aid. Armatree hopes some of the funds will stay to help farmers struggling with the drought in the area.
Lion Beer ran a “Beers for Bush’ campaign earlier this year, with $1 from each carton of Iron Jack beer sold, and 50 cents from each schooner of Iron Jack sold at regional pubs donated to Rural Aid.
The hotel was just awarded best bush pub in NSW and last night sealed the honour for publicans Ash and Lib Walker with entertainment and a huge dinner.
“It was an amazing night. Great pub and brilliant people,” Lion’s Elizabeth Bold said.
