Rod and Rodda Manning from Davilak Pastoral Company, Mansfield, Victoria, offered 510 Angus steers during the first day of the Wodonga Angus grown and weaners sale at the Northern Victoria Livestock Exchange (NVLX) near Barnawartha today.

Ranging in weight from 296 to 366 kilograms, the 10-month-old European Union (EU) eligible steers were of Glendalloch bloodlines and were sold through agents Corcoran Parker.

The first half were weaned in mid-November and the remainder in early December. They were all yard weaned for seven days on silage and were exposed to dogs, horses and so on, Rodda Manning said.

They were drenched with Vetmec and Selovin L.A. and vaccinated three times with five-in-one.

Mr Manning said the season at Mansfield was good considering.

“We got out of jail, it has been a reasonable year on our Mansfield properties with it holding some green right through. (Our) other properties were different,” he said.

Consistently on Glendalloch bloodlines, the Mannings joined 1650 breeders in 2018.

Weights were slightly back this year with the steers not as heavy as previous years.

"They weren’t as big so we had fewer in the big weight range and a big lot in the 330 kilogram range,” Mr Manning said.
