From Scone, NSW, Gabriella has been a boarder at St Margaret’s since Year 8 and says she loves the sense of community within the boarding house.
A keen sportswoman who enjoys rowing, touch football and water polo, Gabriella also studied in Hong Kong for three months as part of the school’s global exchange program.
The exchange program is just one of the many opportunities St Margaret’s offers to expand students’ global horizons.
Another opportunity is the boarding house’s annual ‘See my difference, See my worth’ festival.
“This festival showcases the many cultures that make up our boarding community,” Gabriella said.
“It provides an opportunity for students to recognise, appreciate and celebrate the differences between them.”
A Texas local, Bella Gray has boarded at St Margaret’s since Year 7 and is enthusiastically involved in all aspects of school life, particularly enjoying being part of the school’s successful rowing program and studying STEM.
Bella aspires to study occupational therapy when she finishes school and hopes to one day work in or near her hometown.
Bella and Gabriella plan to continue to nurture the strong sense of belonging and community within the boarding house when they take on their leadership roles this year.
St Margaret’s is proud to offer a number of scholarships, including needs-based boarding bursaries, to students entering Years 7 to 11 in 2020.
Principal Ros Curtis said St Margaret’s is well known for its balanced approach to education across both academic and extracurricular pursuits, and sought students prepared to fully embrace these opportunities.
Applications close February 4, 2019.
