“Located in the garden city of Toowoomba, The Glennie School is a diocesan owned Anglican school for girls, providing an excellent education for prep, primary and secondary students with boarding available from Year 6,” a school spokesperson said.
“A range of scholarships are available to girls entering Years 7 and 10 and reflect the supportive and inclusive approach The Glennie School has to education.
“Scholarships offered are for a reduction of tuition and/or boarding fees by 25 per cent, 33pc or 50pc.
The exception is the Helene Orton scholarship, which offers a reduction of up to 75pc from tuition and/or boarding.
Applications for the 2020 school year can now be made via The Glennie School website, with students permitted to apply for more than one category.
Just one scholarship is awarded per student.
Applications close on February 4, 2019.
Scholarship tests will be held at The Glennie School on February 23, administered by The Australian Council for Education Research (ACER) and supervised by Glennie teachers.
Scholarships are awarded at the discretion of the principal, for a period of three years and following a successful progress review, are continued until the end of Year 12.
Scholarships categories include academic, boarding, chaplaincy, financial need, Glennie Old Girls’ Association (GOGA), performing arts (Helene Orton scholarship), Isolated Children’s Parents’ Association (ICPA) and sports/performance.
Academic scholarships are awarded based on academic reports, while sports/performance scholarships are based on a combination of academic, sporting or cultural talents.
ICPA scholarships are available to the daughter of a current financial member of the ICPA who is entering Year 7, while GOGA scholarship applications are available for girls entering Year 7 with a previous family connection to The Glennie School, such as a mother or grandmother being a past student.
Performing arts scholarships are based on audition, achievements and financial need and are open to students from Year 7 to Year 12 in 2020.
Chaplaincy scholarships are awarded to practising Anglican students from Year 5.
These require a written reference from the parish priest.
They may provide a reduction of up to 50pc from tuition and boarding fees.
