Knox Grammar students have achieved outstanding results in the 2018 Higher School Certificate, with more than 160 boys attaining an ATAR of more than 90.

Twenty-seven Knox boys achieved ATARs of more than 99.
Three of those Knox students achieved the ‘perfect score’ ATAR of 99.95 – Cory Aitchison, Chan Lee and Andrew Uen.
The highest ATAR from a Knox boarder was 99.25.
This score was achieved by head boarder, Noah Derwent, Sydney.
Four Knox boarders were placed on the NSW Education Standards Authority’s All Rounders Achiever’s list for achieving 90 or higher in their best 10 units.

They included Henry Kinsey (Trangie), Ben Biggs (Sydney), Noah Derwent (Sydney) and Gavin Gao (China).
“Our most recent graduates made a wonderful contribution to the school,” Knox headmaster, Scott James said.
“As I reflect on the year group, I remember their initiatives as much as their commitment to studies.
“The Higher School Certificate is a very demanding experience.
“The partnership between staff, students and families has been crucial in guiding our young men throughout their journey.
“This is especially the case with their differing abilities and interests.”
According to the Sydney Morning Herald, Knox ranked 23rd out of 650 schools (December 14, 2018).
They achieved this ranking with 659 Band 6 results (subject results of 90 plus).
“As a non-selective boys’ school, we are extremely pleased with the boys’ results,” Mr James said.
“Each boy’s result is a reflection of his own commitment, dedication and focus.”
Thirteen Knox students placed in the Top Achiever’s List (top 20 in NSW in a course).
This included Knox boarder Noah Derwent who finished second in NSW in Business Studies.
Knox boarders Barney Allen (Sydney) and Noah Derwent were selected for the NSW HSC Drama Showcase, OnSTAGE, for their group performance, ‘Cuckoo’.
Knox boarder ‘Euro’ Ruangvanish (Thailand) was selected for ARTEXPRESS for his HSC Visual Arts major work, ‘Floral Intricacies’.
Euro was nominated for the SHAPE Design and Technology showcase for his Thai micro-farm project.
“Even as we recognise and celebrate the boys’ success, we know that the value of these young men is neither described nor determined by their marks,” Mr James said.
“We celebrate in seeing them enter a rich and rapidly changing world, to enjoy it fully and in due course leave their mark upon it.”
