“King’s specialises in nurturing leadership qualities that grow and support young boys to men through focus on a holistic approach to education,” a school spokesperson said.
“The school achieves this through academics, physical excellence, leadership, creative expression, social responsibility, community spirit and personal accountability.”
The King's School is fortunate to be able to offer a range of scholarships and bursaries for entry to Years 7 – 11, for families who may require financial assistance.
Many of these awards have been established as a result of the generosity of parents, friends, associated organisations and bequests.
The majority of scholarships are awarded for entry into Year 7 although other entry levels may be available.
The number of scholarships offered is entirely dependent upon the range, diversity, character and suitability of the candidates applying.
The majority of scholarships and bursaries are offered in the first months of each year and are relevant to the following academic year.
Scholarship Assessment examinations are held in February and are followed by interviews for short-listed applicants.
The scholarship program for 2020 entry is:
- February 8 – applications close for 2020 scholarships and bursaries;
- February 17 – day student candidates;
- February 24 – boarding student candidates;
- February 25 – short-listed music scholarship auditions;
- March – short-listed interviews;
- April/May – awardees notified.
Scholarship exams are conducted by the Melbourne-based Edutest organisation (www.edutest.com.au) with practice tests available on this site.
Bursaries are relevant to boarder applicants and assist with boarding fees.
Bursaries also demand academic standards, but take into consideration all-round interest, achievements and the financial needs of the applicant's family.
Tenure of any scholarship or bursary is subject to satisfactory conduct and progress.
The availability of scholarships and bursaries and application details are advertised between September and November each year.
The King’s School warmly welcomes boys on a scholarship or bursary.
It looks forward to partnering with these boys and their families to achieve an outstanding education.
