Choosing a secondary school is a tricky decision for parents in rural and regional areas of Queensland.
City-based parents choose schools on academic performance, sports, facilities, and location, where as when rural parents choose a boarding school, they also consider the ‘home away from home’ factor.
Mount Stanley grazier and Clayfield College boarding parent, Judith Lord, is proud of her daughter Claire, who was awarded a full academic pocket at the end of last year at the Clayfield College Speech Night.
“Claire is disciplined with her study and I’m proud of how hard she works, but I also know the tutors give excellent support,” Mrs Lord said.
“They’re amazingly dedicated and Claire definitely benefits from that.
“Claire’s participation in a range of sports is possible because she boards.
“Our property is 65km outside of Kingaroy, and it’s more than a full-time job for us at the moment,
“As a boarder, Claire can play any sport she likes.”
Clayfield College offers free transport for boarders who make representative teams, and boast an on-site oval and state-of-the-art gymnasium.
Clayfield College is located in inner-north Brisbane and offers boarding from Year 5 through to Year 12 for girls only.
Applications for scholarships for 2020 are now open with some scholarships still available for 2019 for students entering Year 7.
