This year we have welcomed six new directors onto the FFN board.
Olivia Falkiner (Warren) brings a depth of skill from her time in agri-consulting and her current work with the Deputy Premier and Minister for Regional NSW, while Lachlan Lynch (Brisbane) provides sharp financial analysis from his work as a senior investment associate with Laguna Bay Pastoral.
Lachlan’s knack for numbers is rivalled only by Richard Kohne (Perth) whose experience as a charted accountant has led to his current position as mergers and acquisitions manager with agribusiness Mareterram.

Hello 2019! It’s great to be back in the saddle, feeling refreshed and ready for a big year.
Isabel Coulton (Scone) has taken the position of director and company secretary, bringing her sharp eye for corporate governance and commercial litigation from her time with Morgan and English Lawyers Scone, while Mary Johnson (Boorowa) brings a wealth of knowledge in policy, stakeholder relations and global trade thanks to positions with Cattle Council and Meat and Livestock Australia.
Last but not least is well-respected market specialist Tom Rookyard (Berrima) who features regularly in this publication through his role as operations manager at AuctionsPlus.
These young professionals join five existing directors in Lachlan Sutton (Mildura), Geoff Birchnell (Brisbane), Sarah Nolet (Sydney), Henry Gratte (Lake King, WA) and myself in Moree.
The board is superbly supported by our executive officer, Georgie Fraser (Goondiwindi, QLD) and bookkeeper Rosie Moxham (Coonamble, NSW) to round out a robust and energetic team eager to deliver value and tangible benefits to our members and partners alike.
Our recent member surveys have revealed young people in agriculture are increasingly passionate about their industry and looking for more ways to tell their stories.
They’re also wanting further education in financial literacy, sustainable agriculture and career path advice to help them make informed decisions and make a difference in the industry. Above all, they want the facts. And more than ever, they want to be able to share them with their urban counterparts.
Already we have seen big news stories featuring climate, natural resource management and animal activism in a world underpinned by rapidly changing and volatile politics.
Arming themselves with education and strong networks, young Australian farmers and agricultural professionals are poised to take on these challenges and unearth opportunities unique to their generation.
The team at Future Farmers Network is here to support them all the way.
