MORE than 2300 goats were yarded at yesterday's quarterly goat sale, where prices reached up to $290/head.
The sale was supported by a large percentage of vendors from east of Dubbo, particularly around the Mudgee region.
Selling agent Joe Portelli, PT Lord Dakin and Associates, Dubbo said there were not many consignments from the western region on offer.
"Numbers aren't aplenty at the moment," he said. "Those western vendors are putting their focus on feeding their sheep and cattle."
A single Boer buck from Dale Hayes, Dunedoo topped the sale, selling for $290 to Landmark Dubbo.
The balance of the Boer bucks averaged $120 to $130/head.
The top end of the Boer wethers sold to $150/head for a line of 16 to 18-month-old goats from Narrabri.
A line of two to three-year-old Boer does from Pattinson family, Mudgee topped the category at $120/hd.
The better end of the Australian Bush Goats (ABG) billies sold to $128/hd, while the nannies sold from $55 to $78/hd.
Young goats to the restockers sold from $20 to $65/hd.
The sale was conducted by PT Lord Dakin and Associates, Peter Milling and Company, Landmark Milling Thomas and Olsen Agencies.
