A solid showing of beef cattle at the 143rd Nowra Show.
Judge Andrew Harborne, of Crookwell, had a quality field of cows and bulls to cast his eye over.
It proved to be a good day for the Nowra Williams’ family, Bill, Thomas and Sarah, who took out most successful exhibitors award after claiming senior champion European breed with their Limousin entry of with Springcreek Wolfette and senior champion European bull with the Limousin entry Southwest Tow Truck.
One of the highlights of the show was the inaugural awarding of the Keith Turner Memorial for the champion commercial class.
Nowra show chief cattle steward Alan Garratty paid credit to Mr Turner saying he had been a great supporter of the beef section of the show.
“It was a special occasion awarding the Keith Turner Memorial for the first time and we thank the Turner family for such a great gesture,” he said.
The award was presented by Mr Turner’s daughter Jo Small.
The winner was the Gary Nelson Angus entry Harry, shown by Claire Anfruns, of Tomerong.

Junior champion European breed was the Susan and Steve Nicholas Salers entry Nicolstoke Nicola.
Senior champion European breed was the Limousin entry of Bill, Thomas and Sarah Williams, of Nowra with Springcreek Wolfette.
Senior champion British breed was Matthew Brandon’s Shorthorn entry Kiltankin Leila 3rd from Kiltankin Shorthorns of Berry.
Grand champion female for the Ernie Ison Memorial was the British breed’s Matthew Brandon’s Shorthorn entry Kiltankin Leila 3rd from Kiltankin Shorthorns of Berry.
Junior champion European bull was the Brewer family, of Numbaa, Limousin entry Curemont Paintem Black shown by Charles Brewer,
Senior champion European bull was the Williams’ family entry Southwest Tow Truck shown by Bill Williams.
Grand champion European bull was the Brewer family of Numbaa, Limousin entry, Curemont Paintem Black shown by Charles Brewer.
There was also a good showing in the paraders section, with Nowra and Bomaderry high school’s and Frensham School from Mittagong each providing strong teams.
Champion heifer or steer was taken out by Frensham student Pip Ireson with Nollsie, her 14-month-old Angus.
Pip, who is in Year 11, comes from Booligal near Hay in Western NSW.
She boards at Frensham and bought Nollsie with her from her family property Belmont Station.
Champion parader was 18-year-old Claire Anfruns, of Tomerong, leading Gary Nelson’s Brahman Lola.
It was back-to-back titles for Claire who is currently completing a Bachelor of Agriculture at Charles Sturt University in Wagga.
