The Eastern Young Cattle Indicator stormed back above 500 cents a kilogram (carcase weight), while the cow indicator was just shy of 200c/kg (liveweight) and up nearly 30c/kg on last week.
Trade lamb prices averaged just below 700c/kg (up almost 60c/kg on last week), and restockers were out in force to push the NSW Restocker Lamb Indicator up 100c/kg to a healthy 738c/kg.
Mutton prices also climbed about 100c/kg both in the saleyard and over-the-hooks in the past week.
In the saleyards mutton was averaging 527c/kg and there were reports at some NSW sales of ewes selling for more than 600c/kg.
The annual NSW weaner sale prices maintained the momentum of recent weeks, with all sales recording dearer trends last week.
Goat rates up too
GOAT rates for those sold direct to processors climbed another 10 cents a kilogram (carcase weight) for all weight ranges across the eastern states this week.
The prices compiled by the National Livestock Reporting Service indicate prices ranged from 480c/kg to 700c/kg.
The average was 626c/kg.
