The fine/medium wool section was the feature breed for the Merino show in the Cox Pavilion, and judge Nigel Brumpton, Mt Ascot, Mitchell, Queensland had a very exacting task working his way through the large classes.

The ram grand championship was awarded to Garry Cox, Langdene, Dunedoo for his champion August-shorn four tooth ram.
Mr Brumpton said the ram had a beautiful outlook.
"He is structurally correct, with a soft and pure fleece," he said.
The reserve grand champion ram was exhibited by Ken Wolf, Hollow Mount stud, Bigga and been successful in the March-shorn four-tooth class.
The ewe grand championship was taken by the McLaren family, Nerstane stud, Woolbrook with their champion March-shorn ewe having had success in the two tooth class.
The reserve grand champion was exhibited by four tooth August-shorn ewe shown by Ken Wolf, Hollow Mount stud, Bigga.
