The Australian Limousin Breeders' Society held their first Capitalise on Carcase conference in Armidale on Friday and Saturday with producers from a range of breeds and properties attracted to the event.

Estimated Breeding Values were a hot topic during the event's first day with many attendees surprised to hear only 77 Days to Calving submissions had been made to Breedplan for Limousin cattle in the last five years.

It wasn't the only topic of debate. The industry emphasis on growth as a breeding objective was also questioned in relation to fat.

Speakers included major businesses like Teys Australia and AuctionsPlus, consultants like Dr Jason Trompf and meat scientists in Dr Peter McGilchrist.

The event was set to conclude with a celebration dinner on Saturday night.
