COMMERCIAL and stud beef producers in the state's north are preparing to exhibit or attend one the industry's biggest events of the year, the 2019 Ausmectin Northern Beef Week, held from June 24 to June 30.
Thirty nine studs representing 11 beef breeds will open their farm gates to visitors as part of the seven-day event, organised and hosted by The Land newspaper.
Each stud will open for one day, with their gates open from 9am to 4pm. The event begins at Guyra and Glen Innes on day one; moving to Walcha an Bundarra on day two; Tamworth and Manilla on day three; Barraba, Coolatai and Boggabilla on day four; Boggabri on day five; Dungog, Singleton and Upper Rouchel on day six; then Dorrigo and Belligen on the final day.

Northern Beef Week is opportunity for commercial and stud producers to connect, allowing the studs to display their sale bulls, stud sires and stud females, and also giving them the chance to explain their breeding objectives to current and potential clients in a relaxed setting.
Australian Community Media national livestock manager Brett Tindal said the event was the perfect way for producers to research studs and their animals before making a purchase during the upcoming bull selling season.
"It is a great opportunity to get out and discuss genetics and breeding options with stud breeders from a variety of breeds, as to what are the best options for various operations," Mr Tindal said.
International Animal Health Products CEO Chris Lawlor said he was proud to sponsor the event. The business, which manufactures Ausmectin cattle pour-on, has been supporting Northern Beef Week for the past decade.
"We always want to try and give something back to the industry, so from our point of view beef week brings a lot of farmers together, it gives an opportunity for them to sell their bulls off farm and we have developed a good relationship with The Land and also with a number of their customers."
