THE King's School, established in 1831, has had long standing ties to regional NSW and the rural community.
Today, situated on more than 146 hectares of surrounding bushland, King's is one of the country's largest boarding schools providing a home away from home for more than 400 boarders from across Australia, and beyond.
"The King's School has always had a commitment to delivering academic excellence and providing learning programs that meet the students' needs and interests," a spokesman said. "King's current education approach is no different."
Educating boys from Pre-Kindergarten to Year 12 at the North Parramatta campus, and boys and girls from Year 3 to 6 at The King's School, Tudor House Southern Highlands campus, King's continues to evolve its teaching methods to appeal to the interests of the students and to reflect the realities of the shifting job market.
In addition to the diverse core curriculum, from 2020 King's will offer a TAFE-accredited and nationally recognised Vocational Education and Training (VET) program to Year 11 and 12 students, delivered by experienced teaching staff, on site at the North Parramatta Senior School campus.
Students can study primary industries as an integrated VET course, where they will gain practical skills and industry insights within the agriculture sector.
Over the next two years King's will also gradually introduce other VET course offerings such as business services, construction, hospitality, and entertainment.
The school recognises an opportunity to introduce a course program that creates maximum global opportunities for students after they leave King's.
"At King's, we understand every student learns differently and there is no 'one-size-fits-all' approach to learning, which is why King's is excited to expand its VET course program," director of studies Jacqueline Camilleri said.
The new VET program offers a practical hands-on learning style designed to provide students with dual pathway opportunities to either fast track their university studies or prepare them for immediate trade-related employment.
Join the King's School on Thursday, July 11, at its community event or meet them on Friday, July 12, at the field days.
