MERTON White Suffolk and Suffolk Studs has been producing and selling superior rams and ewes around the Mudgee region and further afield for more than 20 years.
Bruce Stanford founded the studs in 1995 with a vision of breeding quality rams to be used as terminal sires for the Prime Lamb market, while maintaining the elegance, structural type and lambing ease of the Suffolk breed.
Over the years, the Merton sheep have managed to stay at the top of the field and have received many broad ribbons at agricultural shows across NSW.
Merton produces sheep that are structurally sound, with smooth shoulders to aid in easy lambing. All Merton animals carry excellent muscle, which has been backed up by ultrasound scans on many occasions, leading to high yielding carcases.
The rams and ewes have high fertility and libido. The fertility of these lines is demonstrated year after year with excellent lambing percentages, consistently achieving 150 to 180 per cent lambing rates.
Merton animals have an excellent temperament, which has been proven over the past few years with the next generation of children taking the lead.
Merton prides itself on producing animals that are adapted to the paddock environment and will hold condition through climatic extremes.
Bruce will have a selection of rams and ewes on show at site 567. Call past and have a chat to him about your requirements.
This year's annual sale will be held at Merton on Friday, October 11, 2019.
