The season is starting to take a toll on cattle numbers with only 692 yarded at NVLX for the regular store sale.
BUR director Michael Unthank opened the sale with the comment "low numbers to continue for the next few months."
Perhaps that set the trend with prices lifting for all types.
The offering was dominated by the complete dispersal of their Angus herd by Frank and Pam McFarland, Bethanga, Victoria who have leased their property.
Their top pen of 13 PTIC third calver cows, Scotts Angus-blood and weighing 645kg sold for $1860 when purchased by processor.
Their PTIC heifers weighing 392kg sold for $1005.
Some good lines of heavy steers were on offer with nine Angus weighing 453kg sold by R.W Hodgkin, Mitta Mitta, Vic for $1380.
Younger steers sold to $1200 when M.W Jarvis, Berrimgama, Vic penned 14 Llandarlo-blood Angus, 10-12 months and weighing 369kg.
Corcoran Parker, Wangaratta, Vic agent Justin Keane quoted the sale as having a dearer trend over the yarding.
"The lighter weight heifers were 15-20c/kg up on last sale," he said.
Processors were active on suitable lots as were feedlot operators while local and upper Murray restockers picked up pens when they could.
Wodonga-based agents BUR, Rodwells Peter Ruaro, Schubert Boers and Corcoran Parker conducted the sale.
