The long-standing multi-vendor sale is approved by the Australian Limousin Breeders Society, and all vendors are part of the Limousin Assurance Program. This assures buyers that all seedstock offered are registered, and have warranties for docility and fertility.
Raw data for eye muscle area, fat scans and weights will be available on the supplementary sheet on the day, providing buyers with another tool to guide their value-for-money purchase.
Sale spokeswoman Kirstin Bisley, Amber Park Limousins, said the multi-vendor sale would offer a fine line of quality bulls, with animals to suit a wide variety of production systems.
"When you put Limousin bulls over commercial females and your bottom line is dollars, you can't go past the Limousin in terms of carcase attributes," Mrs Bisley said. "Limousin have a fantastic commercial orientation and are suited to a wide variety and scale of enterprises."
Mrs Bisley said the sale committee and vendors acknowledged the current tough seasonal conditions many beef producing regions were experiencing.
"There are a lot of places out there that have had to destock, however, for the properties that still have females, now is the time to make your next investment on a quality and sound bull or female to complement your herd," she said. "Be sure to check out the Northern Limousin Breeders Sale Facebook page for pictures of sale lots and supplementary information."
Long-time sale supporter Wybong Valley cattleman Andrew Googe and his family run a 90-head British Limousin cow herd, which is crossed with Limousin bulls, on a 219-hectare property at Wybong Creek, 30km west of Muswellbrook, in the Upper Hunter.
While seasonal conditions have forced a reduction in numbers to about 50, Mr Googe is an avid supporter of the Limousin breed.
He targets the butcher market and says the Limousin-cross progeny have all the ingredients to meet the market.
He sells calves weighing about 340 to 350 kilograms, with the most selling through the Singleton saleyards.
"We like the Limousin breed because of its easy calving," he said. "We have virtually eliminated any calving problems we have had in the past by introducing Limousins into the herd. They are efficient animals. They turn feed into meat efficiently and with good carcase qualities, they are an ideal fit for the vealer market."
Pursehouse Rural is again donating a Driza-bone to the buyer of the top priced bull.
Landmark Townsend are the agents for the sale.
