"Mum told me this was to make the floor better to dance on," Rachel Hill from Waka Station said, who is the president of the Tibooburra branch of the Country Women's Association (CWA).
Fast forward to today, in the same hall (without the saw dust), the Tibooburra branch of the CWA will be hosting the Outback Formal - a cocktail evening with a "touch of outback style' on August 31.
The last time there was a ball in the town it was held in 2017 for the 80th anniversary of the CWA.
Tibooburra CWA secretary Kathleen Gilby said the younger members of the CWA got together this year to rally people of the region.
"It's been hard out here especially for those on the property and this gives them a good chance to get together to forget about the drought," Mrs Gilby said.
The formal will kick off at 6.30pm in the Albert Hall, Tibooburra.
