EXCEED And Excel colt, Exceedance won the recent ATC San Domenico Stakes-G3 at Rosehill and is a timely reminder of its past winners, among them including some successful sires of recent times.
A celebrated Sydney spring speed test for three-year-olds, the San Domenico Stakes has been previously won by proven stallions including General Nediym, Testa Rossa, Zariz, Charge Forward, Duporth, Foxwedge, and young unproven sires Va Pensiero, Nostradamus, Star Turn and Pariah.
Two of these - one proven Duporth, and the younger Va Pensiero are both available in the southern districts, each standing at Kooringal and Riverdene Studs, respectively, near Wagga Wagga.
However, each of these stallions represent different sirelines.

Duporth belongs to the Hail To Reason sireline being by Roberto's champion US sire son Red Ransom.
Free of Northern Dancer, Danzig, and Danehill blood, Duporth has sired more than 250 winners including Melbourne's Australian Guineas-G1 and Manikato Stakes-G1 winner Hey Doc.
The younger Va Pensiero does possess the blood of Northern Dancer, Danzig and Danehill, the young stallion being by Redoute's Choice Golden Slipper Stakes-G1 winning son Stratum.
Va Pensiero also won another recent Sydney highlight the Run To The Rose Handicap-G3, a race in which he defeated Australian Horse Of The Year Dissident.
Also standing in the southern districts is Eurozone, who now stands at Bellereve Stud and defeated Dissident in a juvenile Sydney stakes race.
